This fabulous vintage decorative plate featuring the timeless 'Tobacco Leaf' pattern is sure to be a statement piece on a plate wall or mantel! As collectors of this antique Chinese pattern may know, the flora depicted are not actually nicotiana, but rather passionflower and hibiscus, native to the tropical climes to which many of these porcelain wares were destined for export beginning in the 18th century. The more muted hues of pink, apricot, indigo, and celadon green of this piece are a great twist on the bolder colors often used in this pattern.
Made in Macau and marked on the back, this piece is in overall very good condition for its vintage age. The plate has minimal paint wear as shown consistent with age and prior use. It has no cracks, chips, or crazing (fine cracks in the glaze).
