The perfect gift for a cherished friend, this vintage porcelain ring dish is adorned with a blue and white border and the saying, "A faithful friend is the medicine of life." This piece was part of a series of trinket trays distributed by giftware importer Andrea by Sadek that featured famous quotations. The daggers and spearheads found in the traditional Chinese border on this piece were adapted from an 18th century “Nanking” tureen reportedly owned by the grandmother of Henry David Thoreau.
In overall great condition for its vintage age, this piece has no cracks, chips, or crazing (fine cracks in the glaze). Marked Apocrypha on the back (attribution of the quotation) as well as with the Andrea by Sadek backstamp. Made in Japan.
